It’s the hope that kills you. Almost tempted to stop reading all these rumours. Lavia and caceido would be amazing and sort us for years with the players coming through and who we have. I know it won’t happen, I reckon lavia will alone mind. Caceido is just different gravy. Still would need a lcb to be top level, but that would be the most complete squad we have had i believe.

Complete side point, but how consistent is kostas at corners? Or crossing in general. Attacking wise he is right up there with Robbo this season. I know Robbo has proved it over many seasons but if a player steps up and earns his place it’s arguable he should keep it, no matter who they are keeping out.

Why is klopp even taking half of these players with him?!

Sheffield United didn’t put up the fight I thought they would, but what a professional performance tonight. Not much rotation, but if you play like that, I doubt they exert too much energy which is crucial. Though Gomez was pure class today, looked so at ease, made Van dijk look like the less clam one! Hendo and gini i thought also deserved extra mentions too dominated the midfield.

So two teams would be:
Adrian
Hoever Lovren Gomez Milner
Lallana ox Keita
Shaqiri Brewster origi
Allison
Trent matip vvd Robbo
Hendo Fabinho gini
Salah bobby mane
Then for subs for both we can have the likes of Elliot Jones.

Such a weird game, 2-0 against ten men, we should be walking this to a conclusion. Newcastle seemed like the team with a player advantage, and bullied us at times. Van dijk excellent again, Ekitike very good (every time he comes off we lose the long ball threat) and Szobo was good right back for me. An amazing moment for Rio, what composure, but worrying how we seem to be losing leads and letting a lot of goals. Konates form is worrying, and tbh as is Salahs. Hopefully Isak and Guehi gets done this week, and maybe Rio is the left wing cover, but still feels like this squad is thin.

Genuinely think Ekitike might be by new favourite player. I’m not saying he’s the best or polished, but I think he will be great for us. I like the way he comes short and goes long, and he’s just decent at everything - decent pace, touch, awareness, strength, finishing. On the rest of the new guys, Frimpong looked solid, as soon as he came off, the left side looked more exposed. Kerkez had a tough game, but Semenyo was excellent.
I’m going to withhold judgement on Wirtz, I feel he wasn’t quite used to the pace of English football yet, some touches are class, the next he’s under hitting a pass or not looking over his shoulder.
Konate looked way off it today, hopefully hi head hasn’t been turned.
A good game to watch, but unfortunately soured by one prick. Hope he gets the full force of justice, but the message just doesn’t seem to be getting across.

Lots of very unreliable accounts reporting that salah has already agreed to go Saudi next year, with a large fee being agreed. I get that he is irreplaceable but it seems a lot like there may be a nod to his departure with the signings we are making. He will eventually go I know, but shows no signs of slowing down - would £100m or so next year be too good to turn down, if it hypothetically be available?

Can I ask people’s thoughts on ekitikes position? I know he’s a striker of course, but if Isak does come in, will he be comfortable on the wing too, or is that makeshift? I of course trust slot and the team, but from what I have seen of ekitike I really like, he seems like a taller firmino style, maybe with a little more pace, and that would be best suited to number 9. Will he get a fair shot if Isak came in? Would that money not be better spent on a Rodrygo type who can offer quality across the front three, potentially a long term salah replcemebt, and allowing ekitike to play his main role?

If diaz were to leave, I’d actually have a go for mbuemo. Operate across the front 3, and if Nunez is off (and maybe Jota) that versatility would be good. Still would need a striker, but he’s the best value for money on the market for me.
