Lots of discussions about Trent which got me thinking. I know we probably need a like for like replacement for Mo (which is probably impossible) but does anyone think Trent could do a job there with Conor behind/ overlapping him? I'd like to try it to see if it could work.

So Robbo injured playing for Scotland and may miss the next few games . I hate international football with a passion. Dull turged predicatale and not in the slightest bit entertaining. All you can hope for is your players don't get injured whilst away and unfortunately one of our key one has. Let's hope its not to serious.

Having just read a BBC article on Hansi Flick, I got to wondering how well suited he would be for Liverpool. Would he be a good fit, and if so is he a viable option?

What is everyone's opinion on rescheduling the derby game in berween 2 other away games, one of which is another 12.30 kick off. That means 3 away games in 6 days which is crazy.

Fulham, Everton and West Ham.

I know we have to fit the derby in somewhere, but I think there are better options.

The Robbie Fowler mural is a thing of beauty and totally deserved.

I watched the legends game yesterday and the club and its supporters did Sven proud.

It was obviously a very emotional day for him, but at least one of his wishes was fulfilled.

I wish him all the best and truly admire the fact he is dealing with his situation with class and dignity.

Been enjoying the legends match, so far.

Nice to know the Liverpool injury curse is not specific to our first team stars, but our legends as well. Because that needed to be a thing. And Aurelio too, who had nothing but bad luck with injury, great player though.

Always a good laugh these matches, to see your legends who you idolized and tried to replicate become far older men with big bellies and co-ordination I attribute to toddlers. Age is rarely kind. Although, seeing Skrtel trying to play out from the back, while racing towards a terrified Dudek, had me rolling.

On a genuinely heartwarming note, seeing the combinations between Gerrard and Torres, allowing me to reminisce about my own childhood and how big a part both were, was an unexpected but welcome period. And then Maxi doing his utmost to score every time he touches the ball, when both are in better positions bringing me back down to earth :P

Although, the highlight of all highlights had to be Jay Spearing getting absolutely cooked by a 70 year old man, I couldn't breath man. I swear he's still on our books too.

Obviously many of us have differing opinions when it comes to what is best for Liverpool Football Club, many of the discussion I have seen range from player ability, to staff and squad management, the ownerships influence or lack thereof, etc.

However, I think we are all aligned on one thing and that is that our Liverpool players get through this international period unscathed. If we are to make one final push for remaining prizes then we need as many players available and in fighting shape as possible. I honestly could not care less about performance, scoring exploits, just come back unharmed, please.

Lot of talk on here about VAR. Understandably. However, we complained about referee decisions before the introduction of VAR, we complained after the introduction of VAR. Me, not least of all. It's a very nuanced game, interpreting the rules is very much down to individual judgement of specific situations. No method can be right all the time, mainly because of the vagaries of a human body in motion, coming into contact with another human body in motion. Yes, there are howlers, but there are howlers before VAR. Arguably there's fewer howlers now. Complaining is part of the game, but I don't think the game is better or worse for the existence of VAR, it just provides a different ( maybe more accurate? ) type of error analysis.

That PGMOL audio and Howard Webb explanation for the Doku/ Mac Allister penalty incident is farcical. For a start, in the audio what they're saying is not a reflection of anything that is happening on the screen. It was like they were watching another incident. They said:

"Both high": They weren't; Mac Allister has two feet on the floor and controls the ball on his chest. Not high at any point, not even foot off the floor at any point. On the other hand, Doku is genuinely high. He is jumping with both feet off the floor and the highest of his feet is chest high on a player who is standing upright. Also studs up.

Mac Allister "comes into his space" - what does that even mean? Since when has "coming into his space" been a thing in football? Closing down and tackling is one of the fundamentals of the sport.

Doku "touches it first" - he doesn't. To the on field referee I could see how it might have appeared that way but when you slow it down and look at the replays that VAR were watching, you see that the first touch was Mac Allister's.

Doku "plays the ball" - he gets a very slight touch on it, out of control off his shin, after it's come off Mac Allister's chest and a split second before his studs go into Mac Allister. Anyway, we've been told all season - as explanation for various red cards - that contact on the ball doesn't mean it can't be a foul.

And then Webb repeats it all on TV with all his BS and trained hand gestures, like the David Brent of refereeing. It's astonishing.

In fact, if you were to play that VAR audio over the Gomez/ wan Bissaka incident from Sunday (foul and yellow card against Gomez) it would fit a lot better. High bouncing ball, both come in slightly high (but actually not as high as Doku was on Mac Allister), Gomez gets the ball (more contact on the ball that Doku made) and is just about first to it but his follow through hits wan Bissaka's foot (which is just as high as Gomez) . And if that was a foul and a yellow card, whilst Doku on Mac Allister is not given, that says it all.

I reckon PGMOL are in a position now where they just can't admit any further pivotal errors that go against Liverpool. They are already facing the potential of two binary/ black and white errors that they have admitted (Diaz v Tottenham and Odegaard handball) costing Liverpool the league title and the storm there would be around that. They must be desperate for one team to run away and win it by a comfortable margin.

10 games to go in the League - I think we win every game and the League is ours. Will be tough but we have done these type of winning runs before.

Also, if we can smash a few teams then goal difference won't matter lol, though a draw in the Arsenal City game would be a good result for us

10 Cup Finals, and we put Sunday's disappointment behind us lads.

Let's get things straight, it's poor substitutions that lost the game, and tactics against a poor utd, last year klopp done the same and we finished badly, a year when van dyke was struggling a bit, this year and earlier years van duke was unbelievable, it's time for the change, it all went to pot after linders brought a book out telling everyone our selection decisions etc, all our best players are Edwards players are gakpos etc are klopps. He's lost like at dortmund, do we want a parade with the carabo cup, NO that's a joke. Let's get real,

Van duke fit wins our games mostly. Klopp makes poor descisions last season klopps players van duke unfit no champions league. He's not the manager we thought he was no matter how much hugging he does. Edwards bought all the good players klopp got the gakpos etc. klopp picks the team and the subs that was a poor utd. How can he say it's better having less games now, when fans pay money they haven't got to go to the games and prefer it that way. Carabo cup parade at end of season that's a joke, I can't wait for a new manager without an assistant that brings a book out telling everyone how Liverpool prepare for games and more, ?.

Folks just to keep everyone outside of Ireland in the loop. A few arrests were made in relation to the audible tragedy chanting from the Stratford Eve yesterday. It’s been reported and covered here in Ireland. Sky seemed to have focussed their attention on Jurgen walking out of an interview.

Very frustrating watching that today. Complacent start, extremely wasteful middle and extremely tired ending.

Was surprised to see Bradley not start. I really don't rate Joe Gomez at RB - prefer to see him at LB, even over Robbo. Otherwise the lineup was strong.

Was also surprised by the tactics. We seemed to be happy to play them man for man across the big pitch which doesn't suit Endo and Mac Allister. Felt like the Emirates league game again. Huge gaps when the ball was turned over.

Subbing off Salah and Szobo wasn't ideal but they are only just back from injury so can understand if it was medically necessary. Gakpo really struggled to get into the game and also took away some of Darwin's constant threat against the United CBs.

That 5 on 2 counterattack with Gakpo was soooooo frustrating!

Big shout out to Quansah who was brilliant all game.

The main thing is that this competition wasn't the priority. I hope we learn from it as we're back there again in three weeks time for a much more important game.

For a neutral that was a great game, a proper old fashioned Cup tie - gutted we lost, especially given we had so many chances

See a few posts about taking Salah off - in fairness, apart from his goal, he was poor. Nunez looked dead on his feet at times and our finishing was way off, and we had lots of chances

Hopefully they are all back fit and firing for our next game.

That's the angriest I've been with a Liverpool performance for quite some time. Maybe it is just me but there was a degree of arrogance and complacency that set in during that second half I really don't like.

Firstly - yesterday proved how naive a lot of Thursday's team selection and / or substitutions were. We've spent the last few months entrusting a lot of the young lads and then we go super strong in a game we had effectively already won. I get some needed minutes but when you look at how leggy some got yesterday you just can't understand it.

As for yesterday we started poorly and could have been a few down, somehow we take a barely deserved lead into the break. Great stuff, we may have got away with one here.

Second half though was just ridiculous. United were so passive that there seemed a wave of arrogance and complacency that it didn't really matter if we misplaced this pass or screwed up that attack, because we've already got the lead and they can't do anything to us and we will get another chance in a minute anyway. Next to no intensity. If Liverpool showed 20% of the intensity they showed in that second half against City then United were there to have their tummy tickled in that second half. They could have destroyed them.

Then it was just really poor game management. Particularly for the last goal which was bordering on criminal naivety.

Klopp hasn't done himself any favours afterwards with that rather petulant interview with the Scandinavian reporter either.

Hopefully it's a lesson they can learn for the rest of the season.
